The Elk Valley Field House Society is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organization founded in 2024. Our mission is to fund, build, and operate the Summit Centre.
The Summit Centre is a proposed multi-use indoor recreation and community facility designed to support sports, wellness activities, community events, tournaments, meetings, and gatherings. The facility will provide a flexible space that can accommodate a wide variety of users and programs throughout the year.
The closure of the Fernie Community Centre created a gap in recreation and gathering space within the Elk Valley. At the same time, the region continues to grow, increasing demand for an accessible indoor facility to support sports, events, and community activities.
The Summit Centre is designed to serve residents of all ages and abilities, including youth sports organizations, community groups, schools, seniors, businesses, event organizers, and visitors to the Elk Valley.
The facility is planned to support a variety of activities, including basketball, volleyball, pickleball, indoor soccer, tennis, fitness and wellness programs, community events, trade shows, markets, concerts, tournaments, and private functions.
The Elk Valley Field House Society is pursuing a combination of grants, government funding, corporate sponsorships, donations, and community partnerships to support the development and long-term operation of the Summit Centre.
The Society’s goal is to secure funding through grants, donations, sponsorships, and other funding opportunities to minimize financial burden on the community.
The Summit Centre will be owned and operated by the Elk Valley Field House Society’s team members. Our goal is to not only build the space, but maintain it to the highest quality standards for our community to enjoy year round.
There are several ways to get involved, including making a donation, becoming a project partner, sponsoring the initiative, or helping raise awareness within the community.
We also welcome partnerships with businesses, organizations, foundations, government agencies, and community groups that share our vision for creating a lasting recreation and gathering space for the Elk Valley.
